Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Key Account Director. This is a remote position based in the United States, with regular travel required. The role is full-time and permanent. Total compensation is up to $182,000 per year, eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus, and participation in a 401(k) and employee stock ownership plan (KSOP). The KSOP includes both traditional and Roth 401(k) options, with annual company contributions exceeding 11% of eligible earningsconsisting of a 3% core contribution, up to 3.5% match, and additional variable contributions awarded periodically.
About the Role
The Key Account Director is responsible for managing and expanding relationships with the organization's most significant clients, primarily across the electric utility sector. This position will serve as the strategic point of contact, coordinating internal teams and executive leadership to deliver long-term business growth, improved customer satisfaction, and alignment with broader company objectives.
The individual in this role will lead the development of strategic account plans, drive revenue, guide customer-focused initiatives, and deliver high-value engagements. This includes overseeing sales strategy, presenting solutions at the executive level, optimizing internal collaboration, and delivering measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Customer Leadership
Own and execute strategic plans for key accounts, aligned with customer and company goals
Act as the senior-level liaison, managing communication and strategy between customer stakeholders and internal teams
Guide end-to-end execution of complex account initiatives while maintaining consistent client engagement
Customer & Market Insights
Develop deep expertise in customer operations, objectives, and industry context
Proactively identify opportunities for value creation through innovative product or service alignment
Monitor regulatory shifts, competitor positioning, and emerging technologies to update account strategies
Sales Strategy & Forecasting
Partner with internal sales and leadership teams to create joint forecasts and growth pipelines
Generate proposals and high-impact presentations tailored to customer business cases
Use insight-selling and industry knowledge to lead negotiations and close complex, high-value deals
Account Operations & Governance
Ensure streamlined account management processes and consistency across touchpoints
Track and report on KPIs, budgets, and strategic milestones for key accounts
Guide internal resource coordination to support delivery excellence and account sustainability
Executive Engagement & Representation
Lead executive-level meetings and participate in trade shows, conferences, and strategic events
Facilitate product demonstrations and thought leadership presentations to showcase capabilities
Serve as a primary representative of the company in high-profile customer engagements
Mentorship & Collaboration
Provide coaching to junior sales professionals and cross-functional partners involved in the account
Work closely with marketing, product development, operations, and executive leadership to align efforts
Actively contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, lessons learned, and process improvements
CRM & Reporting
Maintain thorough and accurate records of sales activities and client interactions in Salesforce
Analyze account data to support decision-making, share updates with leadership, and manage key initiatives
Travel Expectations
Travel frequently to customer sites, industry events, and strategic meetings (up to 80%)
May include evening or weekend travel for customer relationship building or executive engagements
What Youll Need to Succeed
Required Qualifications
Valid U.S. drivers license and clean driving history
10+ years of experience in the power industry or working directly with electric utilities
Experience in managing complex, high-value accountsespecially investor-owned utilities
Proven success in developing account strategy and leading cross-functional sales execution
In-depth understanding of electric power systems and related technologies
Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and ability to use data to shape strategic decisions
Skilled in financial forecasting, budgeting, and managing account-level profitability
Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of closing sizable deals
Clear, persuasive communicator comfortable with executive audiences and public presentations
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, or a related field
Prior experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
Familiarity with Oracle systems and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
