Hassett | Donnelly is a growing insurance defense firm with offices throughout New England and New York and is seeking a full-time Legal Assistant with 1+ years of office experience, preferably in a law office. The position is located in our Boston, Massachusetts office.ResponsibilitiesProvides general legal administrative support to Litigation Paralegals and Attorneys which may include typing and drafting documents, liaising with marketing/client accounting departments, filing and organization of files, assisting with answering phones, scheduling appointments, calendar management, document shredding, expense processing, and opening, scanning and distributing mail.Maintains strict confidentiality in all interactions and ensures that day-to-day support for team runs smoothly and effectively.Prepares legal documents, correspondence, memos, letters, reports, motions and pleadings.Assists in opening new files including entering data into case management system, creating physical files and coordination of information with billing department to establish new matters.Maintains familiarity with legal terminology, state and federal court filing rules, basic legal procedure and law firm document protocol.Manages own workload, reprioritizing as unanticipated situations arise; adjust schedules to meet new and changing deadlines.Ensures a high level of service when interacting with clients, opposing counsel and other related internal and external contacts.Supports team work not only within the practice area but also in the Firm as a whole.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsProficiency in all Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.Demonstrated ability to balance customer service while delivering high results and productivity.Effective oral and writing communication skills with strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and legal terminology.Knowledge of legal document formats such as contracts, agreements, briefs, summonses, complaints, and motions.Ability to handle complex tasks and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.Team player and the willingness to support others and take on additional responsibilities as needed.Required SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of legal terminology and document formats.Ability to manage workload effectively.Preferred SkillsExperience in a law office.Pay range and compensation packageHassett | Donnelly offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package.
