JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is seeking a skilled Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant with 3–5 years of Medical Malpractice litigation experience to support a 3-5 attorneys. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of managing a busy litigation calendar, court filings, and administrative support with minimal supervision.
Experience in defense-side is strongly preferred but will consider plaintiff as well
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, revise, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and court filings
File documents in state and federal courts using e-filing systems (e.g., CM/ECF, local court portals)
Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances
Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, binders, and court documents
Maintain and organize client files (both electronic and hard copy) in compliance with firm procedures
Track deadlines and ensure timely filings and service of legal documents
Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, experts, and opposing counsel
Perform general administrative duties, including time entry, expense reports, travel arrangements, and phone/email management
Covering receptionist duties during lunch or when receptionist is on vacation – alternating schedules with other LAAs at the firm
Qualifications:
3–5 years of recent litigation experience in a law firm environment dealing with Medical Malpractice, Professional Liability, Insurance Defense and/or Employment Law (EEOC)
Prior experience supporting multiple professionals, including attorneys and paralegals
Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and court rules (state and federal)
Proficiency with legal software and tools (e.g., MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, document management systems, e-filing portals)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
Discretion, professionalism, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
