Title: CNC Operator
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Shift: 2nd shift Mon-Thurs, 3pm - 1:30am
Pay: $20-$22 an hour
Hire Type: Contract to hire
Overview
The CNC Operator is responsible for writing, adjusting, and troubleshooting CNC programs used to produce steel parts and rail. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to ensure parts meet strict quality and dimensional standards.
Job Duties
- Operate assigned CNC machines including Johnford, Rockford, and Voortman
- Read and interpret drawings and part specifications
- Verify and adjust speeds, feeds, and offsets for optimal machining performance
- Make necessary offset changes to maintain allowable tolerances
- Change cutting inserts as needed
- Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, and fixed gauges
- Complete inspection and production reports accurately
- Clean machined parts to ensure readiness for assembly
- Report tooling and setup issues to the supervisor
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow company policies and procedures, including punctuality and workplace conduct
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CNC multi-axis training and experience preferred
- 3–12 months of CNC multi-axis machine operator experience preferred
- Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to read, write, and complete production documentation accurately
- Ability to read and use a tape measure
- Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect rail using measuring devices
- Quality-oriented mindset and strong team collaboration skills
- Solid understanding of safe work practices
