Maintenance HelperA Maintenance Helper in a fabrication shop supports the upkeep, repair, and smooth operation of shop equipment, tools, and facilities. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment for welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel.Key Responsibilities:Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on fabrication equipment such as welding machines, grinders, saws, and forkliftsPerform basic troubleshooting and report mechanical issues to maintenance technicians or supervisorsHelp set up and break down equipment for daily operations and special projectsMaintain cleanliness of the shop, including sweeping, removing scrap materials, and organizing tools and suppliesAssist in inventory tracking of maintenance supplies, parts, and consumablesFollow safety procedures and ensure compliance with shop and OSHA standardsSupport preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtimeHandle material movement using hand tools or equipment as neededSkills & Qualifications:Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power toolsWillingness to learn fabrication equipment and maintenance proceduresAbility to follow instructions and work in a team environmentStrong attention to safety and detailPhysical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in a shop environmentPrior experience in a fabrication or industrial setting is a plus but not always requiredWork Environment:Industrial fabrication shop with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy machineryRequires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots
