    Maintenance Technician
    Location:Shared Position – AMS Power & AMS Mesa Campuses

    • AMS Power: 7301 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85209

    • AMS Mesa: Mesa, AZ (Travel between both campuses required)
      Employment Classification: Full-Time
      Compensation: $18.00–$26.00 per hour, based on experience
      Start Date: Summer 2026

    This is a full-time, on-site position supporting two AMS campuses.

    Position Summary

    Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking a skilled, dependable, and proactive Maintenance Technician to support the daily facility operations of both the AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses.

    This shared position is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and fully operational learning environments across both schools. The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of preventative maintenance, custodial support, repair, and facility improvement tasks while responding to the operational needs of each campus. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work across multiple locations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Facilities Maintenance & Repairs

    • Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs at both AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses.

    • Troubleshoot and repair building systems, including minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance.

    • Maintain classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, playgrounds, and common areas in safe, clean, and operational condition.

    • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility-related concerns from campus staff and administrators.

    • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.

    Preventative Maintenance & Operations

    • Perform preventative maintenance to maximize the life and efficiency of building systems and equipment.

    • Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs before they become major issues.

    • Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, custodial supplies, and repair materials.

    • Document completed work orders, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.

    • Assist with campus setup for special events, meetings, and school activities as needed.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and district policies.

    • Maintain safe storage and handling of maintenance equipment, chemicals, and supplies.

    • Conduct routine safety inspections and report facility concerns requiring immediate attention.

    • Support emergency preparedness efforts and assist with campus safety initiatives.

    Collaboration & Campus Support

    • Partner with campus leadership at both schools to prioritize maintenance needs and projects.

    • Maintain consistent communication regarding facility repairs, project status, and operational concerns.

    • Travel regularly between AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses to provide maintenance support based on operational priorities.

    • Support additional campus operational needs and perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • High school diploma or GED required.

    • Minimum of three (3) years of maintenance, facilities, building operations, or custodial repair experience.

    • Experience performing general building maintenance and preventative maintenance.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs involving plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general building systems.

    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

    • Ability to prioritize maintenance requests across multiple campus locations.

    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

    • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly between assigned campuses.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience working in a K–12 school, charter school, or educational environment.

    • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and facility management systems.

    • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and building maintenance best practices.

    Working Conditions

    • Full-time, on-site position supporting both AMS Power and AMS Mesa campuses.

    • Daily travel between campuses based on operational needs.

    • Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting materials.

    • Work performed both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.

    • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support campus events or emergency maintenance.
