    Job Description:

    Role Summary

    The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the assembly department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role directly manages a team of assemblers and technicians, setting priorities, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement.

    In addition to hands-on technical support, the supervisor provides leadership, coaching, and accountability to ensure team success, operational excellence, and alignment with business objectives.

    Key Accountabilities

    • People Leadership & Development
      Directly supervises, coaches, and develops a team of assemblers and technicians. Conducts performance evaluations, provides ongoing feedback, and supports employee development. Responsible for staffing, training, and disciplinary actions as needed.
    • Safety Leadership (100%)
      Ensures strict adherence to all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements. Promotes a strong safety culture and holds team members accountable for safe work practices.
    • Production & Operational Execution (100%)
      Plans and assigns daily work, sets priorities, and ensures production targets are met. Monitors workflow, addresses bottlenecks, and ensures efficient use of labor and resources.
    • Quality Management (100%)
      Drives a culture of quality through attention to detail and adherence to quality standards. Ensures proper use of the Quality Management System and leads root cause analysis and corrective actions. Champions continuous improvement using the ITW Toolbox.
    • Technical Expertise
      Maintains advanced assembly knowledge and cross-functional expertise across multiple product lines. Serves as a technical resource and supports troubleshooting and process improvements.
    • Continuous Improvement
      Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. Engages the team in problem-solving activities and fosters a culture of innovation.
    • Systems & Administrative Oversight
      Oversees accurate use of business systems (IFS, Agile, testing software). Responsible for time and attendance approval, production reporting, and maintaining accurate records.
    • Values & Culture

    Interactions (Internal/External)

    • Partners with Engineering on troubleshooting, process improvements, and work instruction updates
    • Coordinates with Quality on non-conformances and corrective actions
    • Works with Purchasing/Supply Chain to resolve material shortages and part quality issues
    • Collaborates with Production Leadership to align on priorities and performance goals

    Scope

    Revenue Responsibility

    • Indirect impact through productivity and quality improvements

    Employees Managed

    • Direct supervision of assembly team (typically 5–15 employees, adjust as needed)

    Budget Responsibility

    • Manages labor efficiency; may support departmental budget adherence

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of manufacturing/assembly experience
    • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
    • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
    • Proficient in ERP systems and basic computer applications

    Compensation Information:

    This position has a starting hourly rate of $36 to $40 per year. Pay is determined by several factors, including a candidate’s experience, relevant skills, and qualifications
