Location: District of Columbia
Performs law enforcement functions on university property necessary to protect the life, well-being, and property of students, faculty, staff, visitors, dignitaries, and others. These duties will include patrols, event security, investigations, access control systems, and circulation and safety systems. This position is regulated through General Orders and Special Orders, as directed by superior officers, and as prescribed in the Consortium of Universities Law Enforcement Training Academy (or equivalent) and other departmental training. In the absence of a Police Sergeant, the incumbent will serve as Watch Commander for shift. The Incumbent may be assigned to either the Hilltop or Capitol Campus.
Work Interactions
Directly responsible to the Police Sergeant for fulfilling duties assigned, performing patrol functions, and specialized assignments according to all special and general orders in the protection of life and property at Georgetown University. The incumbent works independently with general supervision. The incumbent works with other Police Officers, Communication Officers and Specialists, Security Officers, and Student Guards. The incumbent is one of the "faces" of the Georgetown University Police Department.

Position is considered essential under the University Personnel policy guidelines and therefore is subject to be on call when necessary. Must be willing to work extended, odd, or off hours to achieve the expectations of the Department. This may include rotating tours of duty (day shifts, evening shifts, overnight shifts) with fluctuating days off, according to departmental needs.
