Medical Assistant - Corrections

An MA needed in a Correction facility. Location: Charleston, WV The, MAs role blends traditional medical assistant tasks with the unique demands of correctional healthcare ensuring inmates medical needs are met, supporting staff, and maintaining both health and safety in a secure setting. Core Clinical Duties Intake screenings: Conduct initial health assessments when inmates arrive, including vital signs, medical history, and screening for acute or chronic conditions. Medication administration: Distribute scheduled medications during med pass times, ensuring accuracy and security. Vital signs & assessments: Monitor blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and oxygen levels; track chronic conditions like diabetes or hypertension. Sick call triage: Evaluate inmates complaints during designated health check hours and determine urgency. Wound care: Clean, dress, and monitor injuries or surgical sites. Routine lab tests: Perform basic lab work and document results. Assisting providers: Support doctors and nurses with exams, procedures, and more invasive tasks like suturing. Emergency response: Provide immediate care for illnesses or injuries until higher-level staff arrive. They must be certified and need to have some type of experience- not a new grad.
