Description
The Medical Collections Specialist role (located in Tracy, CA) is a full-time, on-site position focused on resolving unpaid claims, managing patient/insurance accounts, and processing payments.
Core Responsibilities:
Insurance Follow-up: Contacting insurance companies (HMOs/PPOs) and following up on past-due, unpaid, or denied medical claims.
Patient Collections: Assisting patients with outstanding balances, establishing payment arrangements, and updating demographics or insurance information.
Document Management: Researching and resolving open accounts, entering Explanation of Benefits (EOB) data, and submitting corrected claims.
Medical Review: Reading and interpreting medical records to determine the correct Medicare criteria and billing codes.
Qualifications & Requirements Include:
Experience: 1 to 2 years minimum of medical collections or billing experience.
Knowledge: Familiarity with EOBs, HMOs, PPOs, and Medicare criteria.
Computer Skills: Typing speed of 30 to 45 words per minute, and familiarity with Medicare IVR systems or similar billing software.
Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, and detailed organizational skills.
Must be at least 18 years old and able to show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S
Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour, with substantial overtime and bonus opportunities.
