About The Centers

At The Centers, we are reimagining how crisis care is delivered. Our newest location (opening late September 2026) will serve as Cuyahoga County's first 24/7, walk-in behavioral health urgent care and stabilization center, offering people in crisis a safe, welcoming alternative to emergency rooms, jail, or the street

For decades, The Centers has been a leader in supporting vulnerable individuals through innovative, evidence-based care. From operating one of the oldest single use supply programs in the country to providing low-barrier access to MOUD through our walk-in MAT clinic and delivering comprehensive services for people with severe and persistent mental illness, such as our ACT team, and our permanent supportive housing programs, we have remained committed to meeting people where they are and addressing their most complex needs.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Medical Director of Crisis Services to oversee psychiatric care across our Crisis Receiving Center, which includes a 40-chair crisis receiving center, serving individuals in a mental health or substance use crisis and a 16-bed voluntary crisis stabilization unit, in collaboration with our on-site medically managed withdrawal program, working side-by-side with a passionate multidisciplinary team

What You'll Do

Promote a patient-centered, trauma-informed approach to crisis assessment, stabilization, and treatment.Foster a culture of respect, engagement, and collaboration that supports individuals across a wide range of behavioral health and substance use needs.Support low-barrier access to evidence-based psychiatric and addiction treatment services.Provide clinical leadership and direct psychiatric care within crisis services.Supervise and mentor clinical staff, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices.Conduct psychiatric assessments, prescribe medications, and oversee treatment planning.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards.Monitor program outcomes, support quality improvement, and contribute to organizational strategy.Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies as needed.

Working Conditions

Frequent sitting, standing, and walking within a fast-paced clinical environment.Ability to respond rapidly to emergencies.Occasional lifting of patients or equipment up to 25 lbs.Manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment.Visual and auditory acuity required for assessments and communication.Exposure to individuals in acute psychiatric distress.Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and on-call coverage as needed.Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD/DO).Board Certification in Psychiatry (required).Ohio Medical License (or eligibility).Addiction Psychiatry Board Certification (preferred).At least 3 years' experience in crisis services, behavioral health, or substance use treatment.Leadership and management experience in behavioral health preferred.Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, trauma-informed care that respects individual goals, promotes engagement, and reduces barriers to treatment
