Position Summary/Scope of Responsibility
The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LLC (CAO) is one of the nation’s largest Orthopaedics practices, owned and operated by physicians, with over 60 locations across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. With approximately 2,000 employees, working in 28 Divisions, CAO is a growing business with revenues of approximately $250 Million. CAO is committed to be the Orthopaedics provider of choice for our patients; partner of choice for payors and health systems; and employer of choice by attracting and retaining a talented workforce.
As an Orthopedic scribe, responsibilities include: Navigating efficiently through Modernizing Medicine (EHR), obtaining any pertinent information from the provider and properly documenting this information into the chart, providing physical exam and HPI information to the provider from patient's previous visit (as needed), electronically prescribing medications, and ordering any necessary diagnostic tests, physical therapy, and/or any other conservative treatment plans requested by the provider.
What makes Anne Arundel Orthopedics unique? The creation and implementation of the scribe and tech team was designed to create an environment similar to team sports. While each individual has a different role/skill they are held accountable for, working together is equally as important. Collaboration exists in all aspects of life, and through it, we thrive both individually and together. The development of the scribe-tech team is something I genuinely believe in and am very proud to be a part of.
As an Orthopedic technician, responsibilities include: Working efficiently in a fast paced environment to bring patients back in a timely manner and perform any assigned clinic tasks for the day, obtaining accurate detailed HPI and medical history from the patient, assisting one of the physicians and/or mid-level providers by providing feedback on patient's HPI, fit and offer instructions to patients with preoperative durable medical equipment, as well as addressing incoming messages from patients, including being able to speak to patients via telephone regarding diagnostic results, questions, or concerns specific to their Orthopedic problem.
