100% FTE, Core daytime hours between 6:00 AM -8:00 PM, variable shift lengths, rotation to night and weekend coverage.

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient team by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients.

The Cardiothoracic ICU is a closed ICU service that hosts variety of pre and post-surgical phase of cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, including heart and lung transplants, complex aortic cases and ventricular assist devices, as well as ECMO and other short term mechanical circulatory device patients. This team is led by a critical care board certified intensivist faculty and its members include residents, fellows and advance practice providers. We are looking for APP partners who would maintain continuity of this high intensity cardiothoracic surgery critical care team.

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to:

  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to provide peri-operative care for adult patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery 
  • Participate in daily rounding and collaborate with attending or consulting team to adjust plans of care.  This includes lab and radiology interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, management of medications, ECMO and other mechanical circulatory support devices, CVVH, vent management, communication to patients and families, participation in multi-disciplinary rounds, obtain appropriate consultations, and communication among team members
  • Perform procedures such as arterial line placement and central line placement once meets institutional competencies..
  • Robust onboarding plan with inhouse simulation sessions, including line placements

Education:

  • If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
  • If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Minimum –  State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure

If Nurse Practitioner*:

  • Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following:  Acute Care

If Physician Assistant*:

  • Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND
  • Active PA board certification

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have*: 

  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
