    Description

    Overview

    The Office Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Senior Services, with day-today reporting and program operations. Senior Citizens are a vulnerable population.

    Therefore, we expect staff to treat all participants with compassion, understanding and patience. A person with experience working with Senior Citizens is preferred.

    Responsibilities

    • Take over for Director of Senior Services in case of vacation or illness during program hours
    • Answer telephone, record messages and assist with telephone reassurance calls with seniors who are out for an extended period, are home bound or in a care facility to ensure safety and well-being.
    • Responsible for recording daily statistics for meals and transportation service for monthly analysis reports completed by the Director of Senior Services, along with other administrative tasks as needed.
    • Responsible for office filing
    • Monitor reservations and confirm attendance with participants.
    • Responsible for assisting with counting Senior Program contributions
    • Help Director of Senior Services coordinate and plan social activities for the Senior Center
    • Perform any additional duties assigned by the Director of Senior Services with the understanding that.

    Qualifications

    • Education Requirements
    • High School Diploma or 2 years of work experience equivalent
    • Bilingual individual preferred (English/Spanish)
    • Familiar with Microsoft Oice computer programs preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience working in an oice and working with senior citizens
    • Punctuality and reliability are essential
    • Ability to communicate effectively with Director of Senior Services
    • Ability to work independently and follow instruction
