This position is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys leading client engagements, mentoring staff, and driving innovation within a supportive and growth-oriented environment.Position SummaryThe Outsourced Accounting Manager is responsible for managing outsourced accounting and tax engagements for a diverse portfolio of small to mid-sized businesses. This role blends client service, technical expertise, and strategic advisory, while contributing to firm-wide process improvement and business development initiatives.Description of DutiesClient ManagementServe as the main contact for assigned clients, delivering proactive and responsive service.Understand client needs and provide tailored accounting and advisory solutions.Engagement OversightIndependently manage multiple engagements, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll, and AP/AR.Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, and workpaper preparation.Tax Preparation & AdvisoryPrepare business and individual tax returns for outsourced clients.Identify tax planning opportunities and deliver strategic advice.Entrepreneurial FocusSuggest new service offerings and process improvements.Participate in business development and networking.Technology & QualityUse cloud tools such as QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, FinOptimal, Fathom and others.Assist clients with technology implementation and workflow optimization.Maintain high standards through quality reviews and documentation.Collaboration & LeadershipWork closely with partners and Senior Managers cross-functional teams.Mentor junior team members and support knowledge sharing.Client Onboarding & Special ProjectsLead onboarding efforts for new clients.Contribute to special projects such as forecasting, budgeting, and process redesign.Recommended Skills and QualificationsActive CPA license or EA credential required.Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.5+ years of accounting experience, with tax and client-facing responsibilities.Public accounting background and familiarity with small/mid-size businesses preferred.Proficient in cloud based accounting platforms QuickBooks Online experience required.Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.Demonstrated entrepreneurial thinking and community involvement.Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.Best Practices for Success in This RoleBuild lasting relationships through consistent, proactive communication.Take the initiative to improve processes and identify client value opportunities.Stay up to date on accounting and tax technologies.Embrace a collaborative, team-first mindset.Engage in community or industry activities that expand the firm's network and impact.What We OfferAt Berndt CPA LLC, we support our team members in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
