Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Patient Operations

  • Coordinate Workflows: Manage daily patient scheduling, procedural room assignments, and throughput from pre-op holding to post-procedure recovery.
  • Acuity & Staffing: Formulate and adjust staffing schedules based on real-time patient census, acuity, and on-call needs.
  • Clinical Escalation: Serve as the frontline clinical resource to address complex patient care problems or procedural emergencies.
  • Safety Protocols: Enforce strict adherence to radiation safety, sterile techniques, moderate sedation protocols, and contrast-allergy management.

Staff Management & Personnel Development

  • Talent Oversight: Direct human resource activities, including interviewing, hiring, mentoring, performance evaluations, and corrective actions.
  • Competency Tracking: Partner with clinical nurse educators to manage staff onboarding, continuous competency reviews, and compliance with mandatory education certifications.
  • Culture & Retention: Foster a professional, inclusive, and collaborative environment focused on open communication and high staff engagement.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Improvement

  • Survey Readiness: Maintain continuous unit alignment with standards from The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, state departments of health, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Quality Metrics: Lead Departmental Quality Improvement (QI) programs tracking infection rates, procedural delays, and patient satisfaction scores.
  • Policy Formulation: Draft, update, and implement department-specific evidence-based operational policies and procedural manuals.

Budgetary & Supply Management

  • Fiscal Oversight: Maintain 24/7 accountability for the unit’s operational budget, minimizing cost variances and managing labor overtime.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor inventory utilization for high-cost specialty medical devices (e.g., stents, catheters, guide wires) to optimize supply chain cost efficiency.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Licensure

  • Nursing Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
  • Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) or Nurse Executive certification is highly preferred.

Experience

  • Clinical Base: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of acute care experience strictly within Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Cath Labs, or a Critical Care setting.
  • Leadership Track: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of progressive leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Unit Supervisor, or Assistant Manager).
