About Alera Group
Alera Group was founded in 2017 and has grown to become the 14th largest broker of U.S. business. We are passionate about our clients' success in the areas of Employee Benefits, Property and Casualty Insurance, and Financial Services. With a network of offices nationwide, our commitment to collaboration allows us to offer national resources combined with local service.
Why Alera Group
  • Make an Impact: Your work supports businesses and individuals in protecting what matters most.
  • Grow With Us: We invest in development, mentorship, and long-term career growth.
  • The Collaborative Way: We believe in accountability, teamwork, and shared success across all offices and lines of business.
  • National Strength. Local Heart: Scale, resources, and expertise - with relationships that feel personal.
About the Role:

This role is for someone who can walk into a room as the smartest pharmacy person there and still make the client feel like the hero. You are not just managing accounts. You are shaping how employers think about their pharmacy spend, which for most of them is one of the fastest-growing line items on their P&L.

As a Pharmacy Strategic Account Executive, you will serve as the primary advisor to employer groups and Alera Group partners, helping them navigate PBM contracts, benefit design, formulary strategy, and cost management in a market that gets more complex every year. You will be the person clients call when something breaks and when they are planning for what is next.

This is a consultative role with commercial responsibility. You need to translate clinical and actuarial complexity into decisions that make sense to a CFO, a head of HR, and a benefits committee. You will help close deals, retain clients, and grow revenue, but you will do it by being genuinely useful, not by selling.

The foundation of this practice is built. We have clients, credibility, and a clear value proposition. What we need now is someone who can take that and scale it.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What You'll Do
  • Own a book of employer group from strategy through renewal. You are the primary point of contact and the person accountable for outcomes.
  • Build and execute account plans that reflect each client's business goals, not a generic template.
  • Know their plan design, their trends, their risk tolerance, and their decision-making process cold.
  • Analyze pharmacy benefit data and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations. Clients should walk away from every meeting knowing what to do and why.
  • Lead client meetings, quarterly business reviews, and annual planning sessions with confidence and preparation. No winging it.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts and support the development of new business with broker partners.
  • Monitor PBM contract performance, formulary changes, utilization trends, and regulatory developments. Bring insights to clients before they have to ask.
  • Partner with internal clinical, analytics, and operations teams to deliver solutions. You are the quarterback, not a solo act.
  • Contribute to the growth of the practice by sharing what you learn, helping develop junior talent, and raising the floor for the whole team.
Who Thrives Here
  • A builder who likes a challenge, not a blank slate. The foundation is here. The opportunity is real. But it is not easy.
  • A clinician who can sell and influence. You are comfortable being the expert in the room and the person closing the deal.
  • Someone who can be bold without being abrasive. Confidence matters. Arrogance kills trust.
  • A team player who blends ambition with discipline. You want to grow fast, but not at the cost of quality or your reputation.
  • Someone who prepares. You show up to every client meeting knowing more about their plan than they do.

Why Join Us
Most pharmacy consulting roles ask you to execute someone else's playbook. This one asks you to help write it.

We are growing inside a $1.6 billion brokerage platform with thousands of employer clients who do not yet know what we offer. The internal distribution opportunity alone is significant. Add a strong external market presence and you have a book of business that can compound quickly if you work it right.

You will have real autonomy, real clients, and real
