This is a contract Physical Therapist role. We have therapist needs around the state. The address listed is for our home office but the assignment would be concentrated in the region of the state you live in! This is travel therapy...from home!
NATURE OF WORK:
The physical therapist develops, implements and coordinates a physical therapy program. They provide screening, evaluation and intervention services. Skilled provision of physical therapy prevents injury (acute or chronic).
Working with patients with disabilities and serious health impairments, the physical therapist is expected to analyze risk, problem solve effectively and demonstrate a high level of professional judgment when recommending and providing services, making environmental modifications and training patients to manage their physical needs.
Direct supervision may be exercised over support personnel and must be provided to physical therapy assistants. Consultation with patients, families, physicians and clients is also an essential component of the physical therapist’s roles/responsibilities.
The physical therapist, though working as a team member serving patients, is autonomous in applying principles of physical therapy and responsible for working within the state Physical Therapy Practice Act and other legal mandates.

1. Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice.
2. Provide direct supervision of physical therapy assistants in accordance with the state’s Physical Therapy Practice Act.
3. Develop, implement and coordinate the physical therapy program with patients.
4. Evaluate patients using appropriate tests, skilled professional observation and supplementary information from other agencies and records.
5. Interpret assessment findings and appropriately convey information to patients, families, physicians and clients.
6. Develop and implement intervention strategies.
7. Plan for transition back to home by preparing residents to function independent from therapy service when targeted outcomes are achieved.
8. Evaluate and report on the patient’s progress.
9. Communicate and consult with patients, families, physicians and clients.
10. Serve as resource to patients, families, physicians and clients on disabling conditions and their effects on activities of daily living.
11. Assess needs and recommend assistive technology necessary for function.
12. Maintain patient treatment records in accordance with the state’s Physical Therapy Practice Act as well as State and Federal policies.
13. Procure, maintain and inventory equipment, materials and supplies.
14. Seek regular opportunities for professional growth.
15. Provide clinical educational opportunities for students of physical therapy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of physical therapy principles, theory, methods and evidence based practice.
2. Knowledge of effective practice, clinical decision making, outcomes based intervention and their proper application in the educational environment.
3. Knowledge of areas of practice specific to the work setting and specific diagnoses.
4. Knowledge of administrative management practices.
5. Ability to plan, implement, administer and coordinate a physical therapy program, from beginning to end.
6. Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment tools and interpret results of assessment.
7. Skill in selecting and providing a wide range of intervention strategies and monitoring their effectiveness.
8. Ability to plan, coordinate and provide training and continuing education both formally and informally to patients, families, physicians and clients.
9. Skill in effective oral and written communication.
10. Knowledge of current legal mandates, including: Federal and State law, compliance issues, confidentiality requirements, funding procedures and requirements.
11. Physical ability to execute job responsibilities that may include: transferring and/or lifting patients or equipment, managing equipment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduation from an accredited program of physical therapy.
• Current Indiana Physical Therapist license
