Preconstruction Manager / Project Planner
Location: Natick, MA (Primarily Office-Based with Local Site Visits)
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
A highly respected design-build firm with decades of experience in commercial, life sciences, healthcare, industrial, and retail markets is seeking a proactive Preconstruction Manager / Project Planner to join its dynamic preconstruction team. This role is critical in shaping project strategies, coordinating design and construction resources, and aligning internal and external teams to ensure successful outcomes for every client.

What You’ll Do:Strategic Planning & Coordination
Define and guide overall project strategy from concept to contract
Collaborate with design, estimating, and construction teams to align goals
Lead internal strategy sessions to develop creative and cost-effective approaches
Coordinate and participate in sales meetings, client presentations, and interviews
Client-Facing Leadership
Serve as the primary client liaison during preconstruction
Hold weekly client meetings alongside the architectural team
Translate client goals into actionable design and construction plans
Team Communication & Meetings
Schedule and facilitate meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
Organize and distribute meeting minutes, action item reports, and project documentation
Scope & Estimate Development
Work with clients, consultants, vendors, and estimators to define and document project scope
Prepare conceptual budgets, control estimates, and GMPs
Develop preliminary schedules and coordinate construction logistics plans
Documentation & Deliverables
Draft proposals, project scope summaries, contracts, and schedules
Support contract negotiations and final reviews
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in preconstruction or project planning (design-build preferred)
Familiarity with building systems and construction methodology
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Bluebeam
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
Strategic thinker with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement
