Prep Cook - Flour Bakery Beacon Hill - 209 Cambridge Street, Boston, MA

If so, we have the opportunity for you! Flour Bakery + Cafe is now hiring for a full-time Prep cook position. The Prep position requires weekend availability and will report directly to Kitchen Manager and will also be given direction from other managers on duty.

Day-to-Day Performance Expectations:
  •  Execute prep list as written by chef or lead prep.
  •  Note the order in which tasks are to be completed. 
  • Provide support for coworkers in order to ensure prep is being done efficiently. 
  • Follow all recipes and techniques in food preparation.  
  • Be another set of eyes on product/Mom test
  • Provide constructive feedback for the staff
  • Handle food and clean stations per standard sanitation procedures. 
  • Assist with kitchen upkeep and deep cleaning tasks when production list is complete
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean kitchen

Skills for Qualifitcation:
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift < 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use all kitchen utensils safely, including knives, ovens, slicers, etc.
  • Must be able to maintain grooming and uniform standards 
  • Excellent sense of urgency and hospitality
  • Ability to recognize when and where further cleaning up to our standards 
  • Ability to take feedback and direction
  • Willingness to work in a team and help all other departments, as needed

Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work in an environment with loud noises and machinery. 
  • Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures
  • We do our best not to cross-contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests. 

Compensation:
This position has an average starting compensation of $15.50 - 17.50 per hour ($15.50 per hour + a shared percentage of sales known as the BOH appreciation, which on average adds around $2 per hour). The starting pay rate for this position is $15, but the total pay range is $15.50-$22.19
