Within Microsoft Fabric, the Platform team builds and operates the unified foundation that brings together all Fabric workloads into a single, cohesive experience. The platform provides shared infrastructure, governance, security, and a unified data model that enables customers to manage their entire data estate in one place. This team is central to delivering Fabric as a complete, end-to-end intelligence platform.

Fabric Platform Experiences owns the common UX and Platform-level experiences that unify Microsoft Fabric across workloads, helping business users, developers and enterprises discover, secure, govern, manage, and use Fabric as a cohesive end-to-end data and AI platform.

Within Microsoft Fabric, the Platform Experiences team is hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead complex, cross-organizational programs that improve platform readiness and maturity, execution predictability, feature health, live-site health, and operational efficiency. The Principal Technical Program Manager will build the mechanisms, operating rhythms, tooling, and accountability that turn organizational priorities, partner needs, and product and service health signals into prioritized plans, measurable outcomes, and sustained improvement.

The role will drive an integrated readiness program across platform and workload teams. This includes clarifying scenarios and success criteria, aligning dependencies, tracking infrastructure and test readiness, identifying risks, and helping teams move from fragmented status reporting to evidence-based execution and decision-making.

This is a role requiring technical depth, executive communication, and the ability to lead across organizational boundaries without relying on direct authority. The Principal Technical Program Manager will work closely with engineering, product management, and partner teams to ensure that strategic programs deliver reliable and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-team initiatives involving technical dependencies, operational requirements, and cross-organizational coordination.
• Establish shared definitions of readiness, health, quality, risk, and completion across participating teams.
• Create mechanisms that connect long-term strategy to weekly execution and measurable customer or business outcomes.
• Identify systemic issues that affect multiple teams and drive durable platform-level or process-level solutions.
• Provide leadership with clear recommendations, tradeoffs, escalation paths, and decision-ready information.
• Drive cross-team product maturity initiatives by establishing shared criteria, tracking dependencies and risks, and driving successful execution.
• Partner with engineering and operations teams to maintain visibility into live-site health, significant incidents, recurring failure patterns, and unresolved operational risks.
• Identify high-friction, repetitive, or manual activities across planning, readiness, partner engagement, status reporting, risk management, and operational reviews and build automated solutions with AI

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree AND 6+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, product development, or an equivalent discipline

• OR equivalent experience.

• 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Additional Requirements:

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. .

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading complex cross-functional programs spanning multiple engineering teams, product areas, and organizational boundaries.
• Experience leading large-scale readiness, quality, release, service health, and operational excellence programs, including establishing operating rhythms for feature health, live-site health, incident learning, and executive reviews.
• Experience designing partner-intake, prioritization, and portfolio-management processes.
• Experience defining and leveraging metrics to improve program health, product quality, reliability, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness through process simplification, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
• Experience translating ambiguous technical and business problems into structured plans, requirements, milestones, and success measures.
• Experience partnering with senior leaders on strategy, planning, prioritization, and organizational decision-making, with a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and drive execution without direct authority.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present program status, technical risks, strategic recommendations, executive narratives, decision documents, and program reviews to senior leaders.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
