    Program Security Officer (PSO)
    Organization: U.S. Space Force – Space Systems Command (SSC), Space Sensing (SN) Directorate
    Location: Boulder Ground Innovation Facility (BGIF), Boulder, CO
    Salary Range: Estimated $100,000 + annually*

    *depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications

    Clearance: Active Top Secret / SCI Eligible

    Shape the Future of Space Security

    Astrion is seeking an experienced Program Security Officer (PSO) to support the Space Sensing Directorate at the Boulder Ground Innovation Facility (BGIF). This is a hands-on, onsite role safeguarding some of the nation’s most critical space and intelligence capabilities.

    In this role, you will lead the protection of people, facilities, systems, and classified data across multiple security domains. Your expertise will ensure compliance with DoD, USSF, and national security directives, while enabling mission success in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical field, or equivalent (4 years’ experience may substitute for degree).

    • 4+ years’ experience as a Program Security Officer, ISSO, or equivalent role.

    • Active Top Secret (SCI eligible).

    • Security+ CE (or equivalent IAT Level II certification per DoD 8140).

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 

    • Familiarity with COMSEC and Secure Voice Responsible Officer duties.

    • Experience with OPSEC, Program Protection, Personnel Security, Classification Management, and Security Training.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    Security Program Management

    • Develop, implement, and maintain security programs tailored to program classification levels.

    • Oversee physical, personnel, and information security for BGIF and all tenant organizations.

    • Conduct periodic security reviews, self-inspections, and compliance audits.

    • Deliver security education, briefings, and refresher training.

    Information Systems & IT Asset Security

    • Provide guidance and oversight for NIPRNet and SIPRNet users—account creation, access control, troubleshooting.

    • Serve as IT Equipment Custodian: manage inventory, requests, and turn-in in compliance with base policy.

    • Participate in site surveys to review IT security implications for projects and equipment moves.

    COMSEC & Secure Communications

    • Serve as local COMSEC & Secure Voice Responsible Officer.

    • Maintain accountability records, SOPs, and emergency plans; perform inspections and key material management.

    Cybersecurity & Data Protection

    • Support account management across system enclaves, ensuring all required agreements, training, and documentation are current.

    • Act as Data Transfer Agent—manage removable media controls, logs, and authorized user lists.

    • Monitor and enforce TEMPEST/EMSEC compliance and documentation.

    Threat & Incident Response

    • Contribute to Insider Threat Program monitoring and training.

    • Lead investigations into security incidents, draft reports, and coordinate with appropriate authorities.
