Job Description

Job Title: Quality Inspector

Department: Plant 1

Division Manufacturing: Escanaba, MI

Shift: 3rd Shift

Summary

Dimensionally verifies product quality through inspections. Provides support to Engineering and Manufacturing to assure a quality product is being shipped to the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Measures parts using CMM and/or conventional gages.
• Approves first pieces produced on all production runs.
• Assists Process Technicians with measurement results to adjust processes to meet specifications.
• Writes minor edits to CMM programs.
• Collects data for SPC.
• Conducts 100% dimension lay-outs.
• Sets up gages for process inspections.
• Calibrate gages per work instructions.
• Audits production work areas.
• Final Audits parts for shipment when required.
• Logs daily scrap into computer.

Education and/or Experience

Technical school certificate and 2 years related experience; and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. General knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret blueprints is necessary.
