ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a RAC System Engineer (Process & I&C) for a cutting-edge advanced nuclear energy client developing the Natrium Reactor, which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in nuclear instrumentation, control systems design, and multi-discipline integration looking to further their career in next-generation reactor engineering.

  • Design nuclear and industrial I&C systems end-to-end, including requirements definition, analysis, specifications, and system drawings.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture, control strategies, functional logic, and design documentation such as Design Basis Documents, P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Establish equipment and instrumentation design bases covering regulatory criteria, functional performance criteria, and failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Ensure proper selection and integration of instrumentation, actuation, and control hardware for nuclear service, including environmental and seismic qualification.
  • Support I&C verification and validation activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and integrated system testing.
  • Drive cross-discipline alignment among nuclear, thermal hydraulic, mechanical, and civil-structural engineering teams to implement system requirements.
  • Manage technical interfaces with suppliers, review and verify deliverables, and prepare engineering change packages including calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in I&C or systems engineering (Level 10); 10+ years for senior-level placement (Level 11); advanced degrees may partially substitute for experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing complex, multi-discipline system designs and integrating instrumentation and control hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management principles and design control tools applied in nuclear or complex industrial settings.
  • Experience working to nuclear quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills with strong attention to detail.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with commercial nuclear reactors, high-temperature pressure vessels, or similar passive safety system design.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
  • Experience originating and developing technical documentation to support system architecture, safety analysis reports, or licensing submittals.
