Recreation Leader II - Youth Programs

The City of Burien's Recreation Division is seeking enthusiastic, dependable individuals passionate about supporting safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for elementary and middle school youth. In this role, you will support recreation staff with day-to-day programming and serve as a positive role model for youth.We are currently accepting resumes from qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies. Applications will be reviewed as vacancies occur, and interviews may be conducted throughout the recruitment period. Schedule: 0-19 hours per weekShifts: Monday - Thursday hours are typically 2:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Friday hours are typically 1:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Duration: September 2026 through June 2027, approximatelyEmployment Type: This position is nonexempt, temporary, and intermittent. What You'll DoAssist in the supervision of youth participants at assigned programming sitesAssist in program and activity developmentAssist in the setup and takedown of programming materials and equipmentMay provide transportation for youth using a city van to various sites. (Incumbents over 21 only)Education and/or ExperienceOne year of experience in youth programs, with one year of college coursework in Recreation, Education, and/or related field orAny equivalent combination of education, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which would allow an individual to perform the duties of the position will be considered. Special RequirementsSuccessful completion of a pre-employment background check Applicants age 21 and over may be required to provide transportation.
