Registered Nurse Occupational Health Nurse / OHN Monroe, NC Job Description Advanced Practice Solutions is a healthcare employment agency that provides healthcare professionals with exceptional opportunities across the U.S. We are urgently hiring a Registered Nurse to work 40 hours a week (Mon-Fri) at this Occupational Healthcare Clinic in Monroe, North Carolina only 35 minutes from Charlotte NC. Typically the hours are 9am - 5pm 3 days a week and then 2 days a week from 7am-3pm. This manufacturing plant is a global fortune 500 company that produces innovative world changing technology.
The Contingent Worker Occupational Health Nurse provides occupational health services at a facility in support of employee health, safety and regulatory compliance. This role supports workplace injury and illness management, medical surveillance activities, health assessments, case documentation, health education and site health program implementation, consistent with site requirements and applicable regulations.
The individual in this role works in collaboration with site leadership, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Human Resources, Occupational Medicine and other relevant stakeholders to support a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Occupational Health Services
Provide occupational health nursing services within scope of licensure, training and site protocols.
Conduct nursing assessments for occupational and non-occupational health concerns presented at the site medical department, as applicable.
Support triage, first aid and response to workplace injuries and illnesses.
Coordinate follow-up care and referrals consistent with site procedures and provider direction.
Maintain readiness to respond to medical situations occurring at the facility.
Medical Surveillance and Health Programs
Support implementation and administration of site medical surveillance programs as directed.
Schedule, coordinate and document required medical surveillance examinations and testing.
Assist with hearing conservation, respiratory and other occupational health programs, as applicable to the site.
Maintain health records and surveillance documentation in accordance with applicable privacy, medical record and company requirements.
Communicate examination status or work-related medical clearance information to authorized stakeholders, consistent with privacy requirements.
Case Management and Return to Work
Support occupational case management activities, including documentation, follow-up and work status tracking.
Assist in monitoring restrictions, accommodations and return-to-work processes, as directed by authorized medical providers and site procedures.
Coordinate with supervisors, Human Resources and other stakeholders regarding work status, within confidentiality requirements.
Compliance and Documentation
Maintain accurate, timely and complete documentation of nursing activities, incidents, examinations and follow-up actions.
Support compliance with applicable federal, state and local occupational health requirements.
Assist with audits, reporting and recordkeeping related to occupational health programs.
Follow all site procedures, expectations and applicable contractor requirements.
Health Promotion and Education
Provide health education and wellness support appropriate to the workforce and site needs.
Reinforce employee awareness of occupational health requirements, medical programs and applicable protective measures.
Support site campaigns or initiatives related to worker health and well-being, as requested.
Collaboration
Work collaboratively with site EHS, Human Resources, operations, security, emergency response personnel and Occupational Medicine, as appropriate.
Escalate significant medical, safety or operational concerns through appropriate channels.
Participate in meetings, drills, training and program reviews, as needed.
Required Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in North Carolina
Current CPR certification.
Experience in occupational health.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive medical information appropriately.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including experience with electronic medical records or occupational health documentation systems.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment within scope of practice.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment.
Role may require walking, standing, bending and responding to medical events in production or warehouse areas.
May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
Exposure to manufacturing conditions may occur consistent with site operations.
Additional Expectations
Must comply with all site safety rules, contractor requirements and applicable policies.
Must maintain professional licensure and required certifications throughout the assignment.
Must perform duties within the scope of licensure and according to applicable clinical, regulatory and site requirements.
