Randstad is seeking an experienced, servant-leader Release Train Engineer (RTE) to guide and optimize an Agile Release Train (ART) for our enterprise client based in Washington, D.C. In this high-visibility role, you will act as the chief scrum master and strategic facilitator for the train, bridging the gap between enterprise strategy, cascaded OKRs, and technical execution. You will drive end-to-end Program Increment (PI) planning and execution, eliminate systemic delivery bottlenecks through Value Stream Mapping, and mentor cross-functional leaders-including Scrum Masters, Product Managers, and System Architects-to mature Lean-Agile and DevOps capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate PI Planning & Events: Lead preparation, backlog readiness, WSJF scoring, and full facilitation of the 2-day in-person PI Planning event; align delivery outcomes with enterprise strategy and organizational OKRs.
- Support PI Execution & Delivery: Track and report ART Predictability, Velocity, Cycle Time, and Flow metrics; facilitate core ART synchronization events (Coach Sync, ART Sync, Architect Sync, PO Sync, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt).
- Cross-ART & Executive Alignment: Partner with Business Owners to evaluate business value, manage inter-ART dependencies, and coordinate strategic delivery roadmaps with external trains.
- Flow Optimization & Value Stream Delivery: Establish pull systems, eliminate handoffs and cross-team bottlenecks, and facilitate Value Stream Mapping sessions to accelerate end-to-end delivery speed.
- Coaching & Continuous Improvement: Mentor Scrum Masters, Product Managers, and Architects using powerful questioning techniques; champion built-in quality, DevOps practices, and Communities of Practice (CoPs).
- Relentless Improvement & Transformation: Partner with the Value Management Office (VMO) and Lean-Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) to run AgilityInsights TeamHealth Assessments and drive systemic process improvements.
- Servant Leadership & Executive Presence: Act as the primary face and voice of the ART, facilitating large-scale events with strong public speaking skills while fostering psychological safety, transparency, and collaboration across all teams.
