Description
Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected policy think tank, for a Remote Research Assistant to support the organization's ongoing research and publications work. In this role you will compile datasets, help maintain research files, and provide direct support to policy analysts and senior researchers as they produce reports that shape public debate and inform decision-makers.
Day to day, you will move between careful data work and collaborative writing support, pulling together sources, checking figures, and helping translate research findings into clear, readable prose. This role suits someone who is detail-oriented, curious about public policy, and comfortable juggling multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fully remote environment.
Responsibilities
Compile and organize datasets from government, academic, and public sources
Support senior researchers with literature reviews and background research
Fact check citations, figures, and data points used in reports
Assist with drafting, editing, and formatting research reports and briefs
Maintain organized files and documentation for ongoing research projects
Track policy developments and news relevant to active research areas
Help prepare charts, tables, and summaries of research findings
Coordinate logistics for interviews, surveys, or expert consultations
Proofread outgoing publications for accuracy and consistency
Assist with administrative tasks tied to grant reporting and project deadlines
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in political science, economics, public policy, or a related field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data organization
Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into clear summaries
High attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and citations
Self-motivated with the ability to manage deadlines in a remote setting
Familiarity with basic research methods and data sourcing
Interest in public policy, economics, or government affairs
Experience with statistical software such as R, Stata, or SPSS is a plus
