    Overview

    We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Research & Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and a passion for hands-on research that drives product innovation. This role involves solving complex, real world problems, collaborating across teams, and contributing to the development of cutting-edge medical laser technologies.     Duties

    • Conduct in-depth research, analysis, and hands-on experimentation to drive innovation in medical device development.
    • Design, build, and test prototypes to explore new concepts and optimize performance.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software, and clinical) to bring ideas from concept to production.
    • Document research findings, technical specifications, and compliance materials in accordance with FDA and ISO standards.
    • Apply problem-solving skills to identify process inefficiencies and engineer practical solutions.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies and integrate them into product development cycles.
    • Contribute to all phases of product life cycle ideation, development, testing, validation, and launch.
    • Assist technicians hands-on when needed, bridging theoretical and practical engineering.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; Masters preferred (PhD not required).
    • 5+ years of experience in R&D engineering with proven impact on product or process development.
    • Familiarity with Mathematica or other scientific programming tools is preferred, but not required.
    • Strong background in real-world engineering problem solving and systems-level thinking.
    • Skilled in using tools such as calipers, gauges, mills, lathes, and CNC machines.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
    • Adaptability to a fast-changing environment and a willingness to take initiative and ownership.
    • Must be fully on-site with no travel required.
