A growing property management organization is seeking a detail-oriented Resident Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse residential property portfolio. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys managing property financials, collaborating with internal teams, and ensuring accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment. The Resident Accountant will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting business performance across multiple communities.

Key Responsibilities - Resident Accountant

• Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements for assigned residential properties.

• Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and tenant/resident ledgers.
• 
  
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
• 
  
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• 
  
• Analyze property operating expenses, budgets, and variances.
• 
  
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• 
  
• Review rent rolls, occupancy reports, and property-level financial performance.
• 
  
• Collaborate with property managers and operational teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• 
  
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and property management regulations.
• 
  
• Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
• 
  

Qualifications - Resident Accountant

• 
  
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 
  
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within property management, real estate, multifamily housing, or a related industry.
• 
  
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• 
  
• Experience with property management or accounting software preferred.
• 
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• 
  
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• 
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• 
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• 
  
• Knowledge of property management accounting concepts, including tenant receivables and property budgets, is highly preferred.
• 
  
• CPA track, CPA designation, or advanced accounting certifications are a plus.
