Royal Oak Heating, Cooling, Electrical & Plumbing is seeking an experienced, licensed Residential Journeyman Electrician to join our growing electrical department. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining residential electrical systems while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and building long-term customer relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
Diagnose and troubleshoot residential electrical issues.
Install, repair, and replace:
Electrical panels
Circuit breakers
Wiring and outlets
Switches and receptacles
Indoor and outdoor lighting
Ceiling fans
Smoke and CO detectors
Whole-home surge protection
EV chargers
Standby generators
Dedicated circuits
Perform electrical safety inspections.
Explain repair options and recommendations to homeowners.
Complete installations in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local codes.
Maintain accurate job notes, invoices, and photos using ServiceTitan or company software.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, office staff, and management.
Maintain a clean, organized company vehicle and inventory.
Mentor apprentices when assigned.
Participate in weekly training and safety meetings.
Represent the company professionally in every customer interaction. Journeyman electricians are expected to perform installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and inspections in compliance with applicable electrical codes and safety standards.
Qualifications
Required
Michigan Journeyman Electrician License
Valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record
5+ years of residential electrical experience
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Ability to work independently
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in attics, crawl spaces, and on ladders
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening (if required)
