RN - Emergency Department - PRN

Under the direction of the Emergency Department Director, delivers quality nursing care to patients on an assigned unit.  Assures all patient/family needs are met.   Provides open communication within the unit,  patients, families, physicians and other units.  Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures. 

• Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients in the emergency room.
• Triages each patient and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological and social needs as well as factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system.
• Time management is crucial
• Responsible for moving patients, taking blood samples, cleaning and bandaging wounds, administering medications and maintaining proper supplies
•  Performs focused assessment of chief complaints of each patient in a timely manner according to established triage guidelines.
• Carries out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures functioning within the limitations of the Nurse Practice Act

PRN or “as needed” employees provide a crucial role within the organization, giving departments more flexibility to operate and ensuring that Delta Health provides superior services to our patients. 

• Must be currently licensed to practice as an R.N. in the State of Colorado.
• At least two years experience in critical care nursing preferred.
• Specialty certification for specialty areas preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required upon hire.   
• ENPC or PALS required within 6 months. ENPC preferred.
• TNCC required upon hire or within 1 year.
• Must work 2 shifts per month and1 Holiday per year to maintain PRN status.
