Roving Site Superintendent, Commercial Construction

A day in the life

You start your morning on site, walking the project with foremen and subcontractors. Materials, equipment, and trades are queued up because you’ve coordinated every step. You verify the work meets specifications, review the latest schedule, and align today’s tasks with budget and milestones. Inspections are anticipated, quality is measured, and safety is non‑negotiable. Throughout the day, you track progress, resolve field challenges, communicate updates to the Project Manager, and ensure the site operates securely and efficiently. As the on‑site lead, you keep construction moving—from planning through completion.

Core responsibilities

• Provide on‑site coordination for all phases of construction.
• Coordinate subcontractors, materials, and equipment to meet project needs.
• Ensure work strictly follows plans, specifications, and standards.
• Drive the schedule; assist in creating and actively monitor its execution.
• Track performance against budgets for manpower, resources, and activities.
• Plan for and manage inspections; maintain rigorous quality control procedures.
• Enforce job site safety and security requirements at all times.
• Monitor the project from planning through completion with a focus on execution.
• Travel to jobsites daily to oversee personnel, manage work, and review progress.

Reporting structure

Reports to: Project Manager. Responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

Daily travel to jobsites for personnel and job management, including progress reviews.
