    Job Description

    Sales Director

    Employment Type: Full Time

    Location: Monmouth County, NJ (Hybrid)

    About Client

A well-established commercial audio visual integrator serving enterprise organizations across New Jersey and the tri-state area. Our client designs, installs, and supports advanced AV environments for large healthcare systems, higher education, corporate headquarters, and government, from early-stage collaboration with architects and construction teams through commissioning, training, and ongoing managed support. Known for responsive service, long-term client partnerships, and a people-first culture, they are a stable, growing company where leadership is accessible and team members are encouraged to build their careers.

    Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role at a pivotal moment in the company's growth. As Sales Director, you will do more than manage a number. You will help define how an established, respected integrator competes and wins in the enterprise market, and you will have a direct hand in the company's next chapter.

As a true player/coach, you will lead from the front: developing and inspiring a high-performing sales team while remaining an active, visible presence with customers on the organization's most strategic accounts. Your influence will be felt in every part of the business, from how opportunities are pursued and priced to how the team is hired, coached, and grown.

You will be selling work that matters, including hospital campuses, mission-critical operations centers, and executive environments where technology has to perform every time, supported by design, engineering, and service teams who stand behind every commitment. With accessible leadership invested in your success, hybrid flexibility, and a culture that rewards ownership, this is an opportunity to build something lasting and to lead the team to new heights.

    Job Description

The Sales Director is a player/coach with two equally important jobs: leading, developing, and holding accountable a team of sales representatives, and personally managing and growing a book of enterprise accounts. This leader drives revenue across enterprise AV projects and ongoing managed services, helps the team qualify, strategize, and close large and complicated deals, and builds a culture of consultative, relationship-based selling.

The ideal candidate enjoys both halves of the role: getting out in the field to meet clients and win business, and investing real time in coaching, hiring, and developing the people on the team.

    Functional Responsibilities

    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales representatives, setting clear expectations, reviewing pipelines, and driving consistent performance against quota.
    • Manage a personal portfolio of enterprise accounts, with hands-on responsibility for prospecting, relationship development, proposals, and closing.
    • Partner with reps on large, complex, multi-stakeholder pursuits, joining client meetings and leading strategy, pricing, and negotiation as needed.
    • Build and maintain relationships with enterprise decision makers and influencers, including facilities and IT leaders, executives, architects, general contractors, and consultants.
    • Engage early in the design and planning phase of major projects to position the company as a trusted AV advisor from concept through commissioning.
    • Work closely with engineering, project management, and service teams to scope solutions accurately and ensure smooth handoffs from sale to delivery.
    • Grow recurring revenue by identifying opportunities for managed service agreements, support packages, and long-term client partnerships.
    • Forecast accurately, manage pipeline health, and maintain disciplined CRM usage across the team.
    • Recruit, onboard, and mentor sales talent, and establish repeatable sales processes and best practices.
    • Represent the company in the market through client visits, industry events, and community and customer relationships.

    Requirements

    • Proven track record in enterprise B2B technology or solutions sales, with a history of closing large, complex, long-cycle deals.
    • Experience leading, coaching, and developing sales professionals, ideally in a player/coach capacity, with a record of helping reps grow and perform.
    • AV, technology integration, or related industry background preferred; strong enterprise and technology sales experience is the key.
    • Willingness to actively sell, including prospecting, client meetings, and site visits, alongside a genuine interest in coaching and developing others.
    • Ability to build credibility and long-term relationships with senior-level decision makers across healthcare, education, corporate, and government environments.
    • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Working knowledge of CRM tools and data-driven pipeline management.
    • Comfortable working with quota-based goals for both personal and team performance.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from the Monmouth County, NJ area, with local travel to client sites as needed.

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and requirements.
