School Nutrition Assistant Cook, .38 FTE, NKE

The OSD School Nutrition Team is looking to hire positive candidates who are ready to jump into our fast-paced work environment

Position Summary: Assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals to students during the school day.

Essential Job Functions:

• Light prep including processing fruits and vegetables, reheating food and preparing food for service.
• Serving food on the serving line, including restocking food during service and cleaning between groups.
• Follow USDA guidelines for proper serving sizes.
• Inventorying, ordering and stocking food and supplies.
• Maintaining a variety of records including those related to production records, temperature logs, daily reports, and receipts.
• Monitoring refrigerator and food temperatures on a regular basis.
• Performing daily tasks as needed including operating the dishwasher, cleaning and maintaining equipment as well as the kitchen and serving area, and preparing food for future use.
• Communicating with cook or school lunch manager regarding repairs and complaints or suggestions from building staff.
• Follow proper food safety at all times.
• Attending meetings and in-service throughout the year as required.
• May assist in the training of substitutes and new food service employees.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Prior food service experience in a school or commercial setting preferred
• ServSafe Food Handler training required upon hire.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Oregon School Board policies.
