Position Title:  Seasonal Field Sampler

Reports to: Director

Classification: Seasonal, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Pay: $21.25 an hour.

This is a seasonal, full-time position based on-site at our Stockton facility, with travel throughout the Central Valley.

As a Seasonal Field Sampler, you will collect and organize information from olive fields, deliver samples to the corresponding labs, and perform data entry. This position works five days a week from August to mid-November. You will have daily contact with your supervisor and other employees as required.

This position will be primarily responsible for:

  • Traveling to olive fields across the central valley to collect canopy measurements, soil, tissue, and fruit samples from fields for analysis and field scouting.
  • Following SOPs to guarantee consistency and quality of information collected over time.
  • Safely and responsibly driving a vehicle on California pathways and through growers’ properties.
  • Transporting samples collected from the fields to the lab for analysis.
  • Maintaining records of samples and transportation data per relevant procedures.
  • Ensuring the necessary equipment and materials are on hand to complete the work on time and according to the Manager’s expectations.
  • Completing vehicle operational logs and minor maintenance as needed.
  • Assisting team colleagues with crop and customer care activities, scouting reports, inventory entry, grower data entry, and other spreadsheets as needed.
  • Following good documentation practices, data integrity principles, and safety behaviors.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one or more years of experience in data entry.
  • Demonstrated ability of attention to detail and following procedures.
  • Verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic math and grammar skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work long hours, often outdoors and in the elements.
  • Valid CA driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to and from field locations while striving to maximize driving route efficiency.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while guaranteeing consistency and quality.
  • You must have basic computer knowledge.
  • You must be able to work independently, pay attention to detail, be flexible, and have strong communication skills. A team-player attitude is essential.

Physical Requirements:

Moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling;   moderate stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and occasional fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 50% or more sitting, 25% or more walking, and 50% or more standing. The job is performed under  occasional temperature variations and in an manufacturing environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. is required.
