Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Chicago. This position is fully onsite and is ideal for an accounting professional with strong general ledger, month-end close, reconciliation, budgeting, and financial reporting experience. Professional services experience is preferred but not required.

Position Details

• Location: Chicago, IL
• Schedule: Fully onsite
• Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
• Contract Rate: $40-$45/hr.
• Conversion Salary: Approximately $90K
• Target Start Date: October 2026

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the general ledger
• Perform month-end close activities within established deadlines
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare financial reports and support budgeting and forecasting
• Research and resolve technical accounting issues
• Assist with annual financial audits and tax compliance
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Professional services experience preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
