Headquartered in Chicago, we develop, own, and operate large scale projects that power communities and support the energy future.Position Overview A growing family office is seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to lead key accounting, reporting, and close activities across a complex multi-entity structure. This role reports to the Controller and partners closely with operations and investment teams to ensure timely, accurate financial information, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement. This is an in‑office position based in Chicago, IL.Responsibilities Own day‑to‑day accounting and general ledger activities across 40+ entities, ensuring accurate coding, classifications, and documentationLead month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparationPrepare and review cash and liquidity reporting; monitor daily cash activity and coordinate funding across entities and investment accountsAnalyze financial results, variances, and trends; provide insights and recommendations to address risks, anomalies, and process gapsDevelop and maintain clear electronic workpapers and close schedules that support audit readiness and repeatable processesOversee accounts payable workflow: review invoices, ensure appropriate approvals, and manage intercompany billing and allocationsCoordinate retrieval and review of bank, brokerage, and credit card statements across multiple financial institutions; investigate and resolve discrepanciesCoordinate tax documentation and support annual compliance, audits, and filings by liaising with external tax preparers and advisorsQualifications 6+ years of progressive accounting experienceBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredExperience supporting multiple entities and complex structures; exposure to investment accounting and/or family office environments is a plusStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and close best practices, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparationDemonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal controls, document processes, and ensure data integrity across systemsHands‑on experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred) and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially ExcelAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas) and comfort working with large data setsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non‑accounting stakeholdersHighly detail‑oriented, well organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environmentExperience with AP automation and expense management tools (AvidXchange, Bill.com, Ramp, HomePay, or similar) is strongly preferredStrong understanding of A/P, A/R, and intercompany transactions, including allocations, eliminations, and due‑to/due‑from activitySelf‑motivated with a high level of initiative; able to work independently and identify opportunities to improve processes and reportingHighly proficient in time management, organization, planning, and prioritization, with demonstrated ownership of the close calendarEligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the futureCompensation & Benefits Base pay: $80,000 - $100,000 USD annually. Bonus: 10%. The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position.
