$48.00/hour | Conversion salary ~$90K–$100KJoin a mission-driven nonprofit focused on expanding youth access to sports while playing a key role in supporting the financial operations of two affiliated organizations.About the RoleOur client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of their private foundation and public charity. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, this role will contribute to the organization's financial integrity through general ledger accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and grant tracking. The Senior Accountant will also help transition routine accounting functions from external consultants to internal operations while identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands‑on accounting work and improving operational efficiency within a collaborative nonprofit environment.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & AccountingPrepare month‑end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (investments, payroll, prepaid expenses, accruals)Record bank transactions and complete bank and credit card reconciliationsReview revenue and expenses for proper recognition and codingEnsure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standardsAssist with transitioning accounting tasks from external consultants to internal operationsBudgeting & Grant TrackingTrack grant revenue and expenses and assist with grant reportingSupport development and monitoring of departmental and organizational budgetsAnalyze monthly budget variancesPrepare monthly financial statements for both nonprofit entitiesManage shared expense allocations and intercompany transactionsSupport fiscal year‑end close and assist with audits and tax preparationCompile documentation for state and federal lobbying reportsProcess ImprovementDevelop and maintain accounting policies and proceduresIdentify opportunities to streamline finance and accounting operationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting required2–4 years of nonprofit accounting experience requiredAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookup functions)Proficiency in Microsoft OfficeQuickBooks Online experience preferredGrant accounting or grant tracking experience preferredIntercompany accounting experience a plusStrong attention to detail and communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced nonprofit environmentWe will consider qualified candidates with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.
