Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a highly motivated, curious, and analytical Senior Accountant to join the Studios Accounting team in Culver City, California.Amazon MGM Studios is home to award‑winning television series including Wednesday, The Handmaid's Tale, Fargo, Vikings, Survivor, The Voice, Fallout, The Rings of Power, Reacher, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Boys, and original films including Project Hail Mary, Air, and Creed. The Business Controllership team is responsible for managing revenue operations, accounts receivable, and various accounting functions.The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals, sound business judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, global environment. This individual will think both strategically and tactically, partner cross‑functionally, and influence senior business leaders through clear communication, analytical rigor, and well‑reasoned recommendations.Key Job ResponsibilitiesOwn the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries, analyzing and explaining variances, and delivering meaningful financial reporting to managementBuild trust and credibility with senior leadership through clear, concise communicationPartner closely with cross‑functional teams including Finance, Production, Tax, Sales, to ensure alignment and effective information flowReview licensing agreements and interpret contractual terms to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC606, and process agreements through the rights management systemManage client royalty statement processing to the general ledger to record revenue and AREnsure accurate processing of Accounts Receivable functions such as billing, collections, and cash applicationEnsure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls and auditsEvaluate existing processes and recommend, develop, and drive improvements to increase efficiency and scalabilityBasic Qualifications3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experienceBachelor's degree in accounting or related fieldExperience operating in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environmentEffective verbal and written communicationPreferred QualificationsCPAKnowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codificationExperience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusionsExperience working with large‑scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JDEdwards)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
