Job Description Summary:
TPC Homes is the housing development and property management affiliate of The People Concern, one of LAs most respected homeless services organizations. We create and operate high-quality affordable and supportive housing for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness-because housing isnt just shelter, its the foundation for stability and dignity.

The Senior Accountant reports to the Executive Director and is the primary hands-on accounting resource for TPC Homes. This is an individual contributor role responsible for executing the full range of day-to-day accounting and transaction processing functions, including property management accounting, financial reporting, construction accounting, and general ledger maintenance. TPC Homes works with third-party consultants to provide additional supervisory and subject matter expertise support.

Job Description Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field.
At least 5-7 years of proven experience as an accountant or in a supervisory accounting role.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in Yardi accounting software.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage priorities and workflow while meeting tight deadlines.
High level of professionalism and integrity in handling confidential information; ability to work across all accounting systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
Passion for and support of TPC Homes' mission and core values.
Comfortable recommending and implementing more efficient and economical solutions across accounting systems.
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and fund accounting desirable.
Job Description Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with affordable housing, LIHTC, or real estate development accounting.
Prior experience in a small or growing nonprofit organization where staff wear multiple hats and processes are still being formalized.
CPA license or progress toward CPA certification.
Experience with construction accounting, development draws, or partnership/joint venture accounting structures.
Familiarity with government grant accounting, HUD, or other public funding reporting requirements.
Experience building or improving accounting infrastructure and internal controls in a scaling organization.
Job Description Work Environment:
Field (may need to travel) and indoor office environment. Based primarily in Arlington HQ.
Hybrid - in main office or on-site at least four days per week.
Will be required to walk or drive to different local sites and events (Southern California area).
On-call after-hours and on weekends to address any emergency work orders and/or other building emergencies as back-up support to property management staff.
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
Will necessitate working in busy, dusty and loud environments around our unhoused clients at times, including parking in and near their current areas of residence.
Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor and other potential visual situations of this industry (homeless clients, skid row population, substance users etc.).
May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day.
