Please note: This is not a remote position.OVERVIEWApply accounting principles to prepare financial reports, analyze financial data and ensure financial compliance. Maintain and execute a variety of financial procedures, including month‑end and year‑end general ledger closings, balance sheet account reconciliations. Play a key role in major annual audits. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance including setting priorities, meeting deadlines and improving processes. May perform other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSFollows Catholic Community Services established accounting policy and proceduresReconciles assigned balance sheet, revenue and expense accounts in accordance with the organization's accounting policy and GAAPPrepares and maintains sub‑ledgers; reconciles sub‑ledgers monthly to the general ledger, including researching and resolving differencesInitiates and processes journal entries into the general ledgerMaintains financial procedures and confirms financial compliancePrepares and posts monthly expense allocationsPrepares and posts payroll and payroll‑related expenses, including reclassifying entriesPrepares and maintains schedules and documentation for external auditorsProvides customer service, including answering accounting questions, researching financial information, and interpreting financial dataUses accounting software to process, record, and report accounting dataPrepares government grant billing as needed to support the business office teamPrepares monthly financial reports for various agenciesExercises professional judgment and assumes responsibility for decisionsProtects the organization's value by keeping confidential informationMay drive personal or agency vehicle on company businessMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree in accountingFive or more years of directly related experienceProven proficiency in accounting, accounting software, and Microsoft ExcelProven ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks/assignments and meet deadlinesExcellent analytical skills and strong attention to detailProven strong oral and written communication skills that are clear, concise, and organized using appropriate style, grammar, and toneProven record of excellent customer service and teamworkPHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSWork is completed primarily indoors in an office environmentConstantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printerRequires managing competing priorities in an occasionally high‑stress environmentREGULATORYMust be at least 18 years of ageValid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39‑month motor vehicle reportAbility to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)Pass pre‑employment drug screen (includes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSSeven or more years of directly related experience with government funding, or three or more years in public accountingExperience with Financial Edge Accounting SystemProficient knowledge of Uniform Guidance complianceSTATEMENTThe above statement reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.EEO STATEMENTWe are an affirmative action equal opportunity employer for all individuals.
