Senior Buyer

Our client, a manufacturer of large-scale fabricated and machined components for the hydroelectric power industry, is hiring a Senior Buyer to source fabrication and machining commodities for a growing North American operation. You'll work closely with suppliers and internal teams to keep complex, technically demanding projects moving on cost, quality, and schedule.

Senior Buyer Responsibilities

• Identify and select qualified vendors, and bring in new or alternative suppliers when the business needs them
• Review technical data, designs, prints, and manufacturing and quality requirements to build accurate purchasing specifications, working with internal teams to confirm delivery needs
• Evaluate the manufacturability and value of engineered components
• Source welded fabrications and machined parts
• Manage RFQs from early project stages through completion
• Purchase and manage assigned commodities to hit quality and cost targets within company policy
• Build supplier relationships that drive quality improvement and cost savings over time

Senior Buyer Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
• 1 to 5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management
• Strong communication skills in English, written and verbal
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Manufacturing industry experience, SAP experience, and French language skills are all a plus

Senior Buyer Additional Details

• Compensation: $90k annually 
• Location: York, PA | Onsite | Direct Hire
• Some domestic and international travel required
• Direct exposure to complex, engineered manufacturing projects, with the chance to shape sourcing strategy for a specialized commodity group
