We are urgently seeking a compassionate and highly organized Senior Center Operations Coordinator to support daily operations and programming at a busy senior center in San Francisco.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with older adults and diverse communities and has experience with senior services, recreational programming, community-based programs, or senior center operations.
The ideal candidate is energetic, dependable, culturally responsive, and comfortable balancing participant engagement, programming, administrative responsibilities, safety, and day-to-day center operations.
Support daily operations of a high-volume senior center and help maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized environment.
Engage directly with older adults and provide excellent participant and customer service.
Coordinate and support recreational activities, educational workshops, wellness programs, classes, and group programming.
Assist with participant enrollment, referrals, outreach, and program-related services.
Coordinate activity and workshop schedules and help ensure appropriate program coverage.
Support volunteers, staff, community partners, and security personnel with daily center activities.
Assist with building safety, security, and Staff-on-Duty responsibilities.
Use effective conflict-resolution and de-escalation techniques when participant or operational challenges arise.
Provide language assistance and translation support for monolingual participants when needed.
Maintain accurate participant information, program documentation, reports, and operational records.
Assist with community outreach, site visits, program assessments, and surveys.
Coordinate program supplies and inventory, including ordering and receiving materials.
Assist with donation collections and related financial documentation.
Provide administrative and operational support as needed.
Follow established policies, procedures, contract requirements, and regulatory standards.
Travel to other local service sites within San Francisco when needed.
Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish OR English/Cantonese is required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working independently and following detailed procedures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with database systems.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work 100% onsite in San Francisco.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Recreation Administration, Gerontology, Human Services, Social Services, Nonprofit Administration, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience working directly with older adults or seniors.
Experience in senior centers, recreational programming, community-based programs, or similar environments.
At least 1 year of community outreach experience.
Experience coordinating activities, workshops, volunteers, or group programming.
Experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation.
Diabetes Educator or Health Educator certification is a plus.
