Senior Controller

A rapidly growing organization in the Aventura area is seeking an experienced
Senior Controller to lead its accounting function. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for someone who can balance strategic financial oversight with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
The Senior Controller will oversee a multi-functional accounting team and take ownership of financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, audit readiness, revenue recognition, reconciliations, billing and collections oversight, and financial controls. This position will work closely with executive leadership and play a key role in strengthening processes and building scalable accounting practices as the organization continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes
- Review financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness
- Ensure accounting practices align with GAAP and strengthen accounting policies and procedures
- Prepare and present financial reporting and analysis for executive leadership
- Oversee revenue recognition and ensure revenue is recorded accurately and consistently
- Manage external audit activities and coordinate with outside accounting and tax partners
- Oversee corporate tax compliance and support regulatory reporting requirements
- Manage bank, credit card, intercompany, and related-party reconciliations
- Investigate financial discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions
- Oversee billing, collections, refunds, and chargeback activity
- Support multi-entity accounting and consolidation activities
- Partner cross-functionally on financial reporting, commissions, and analysis
- Strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team
- Partner directly with senior and executive leadership on financial priorities and business decisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Previous experience as a Controller, Senior Controller, or comparable accounting leader
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close
- Hands-on revenue recognition experience
- Experience managing external audits and working with outside accounting or tax partners
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and related-party transactions
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, internal controls, and financial process improvement
- Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing accounting teams
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executive leadership
- Ability to manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-moving environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA
- Experience within a rapidly growing or entrepreneurial organization
- Experience building or improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting structures
- Experience supporting a transition from cash-basis to accrual/GAAP accounting
