Senior Financial Analyst

The Team:

Morningstar’s Corporate Finance team plays an essential role in supporting our company’s strategic initiatives, day-to-day operations, and long-term financial health and growth. Our Corporate FP&A team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analyzing the company’s financial results. The team works collaboratively with our executive and senior leaders, business finance partners, and international teams to support our strategy and growth initiatives and help make informed business decisions. 

 

The Role:

 As a Senior Financial Analyst Corporate FP&A, you will be the primary finance partner for Morningstar’s Information Technology function. This will require close collaboration with the CTO and other senior stakeholders across Corporate Systems, Employee Support, Infrastructure, and Information Security. You will lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, analyze and report results, collaborate with long-term planning, and drive value creation with ad hoc support for special projects and initiatives. 

This position reports into the Director of Corporate FP&A and is based in our Chicago office (4 days per week in office is expected). 

 

Responsibilities:

• Partner with and support Information Technology leaders with budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, financial modeling and alignment with our long-term strategic plan. 

• Drive value for Business Units with utilization-based cost allocations, involving multiple stakeholders early in the process to enhance transparency and optimize outcomes. 

• Influence decision-making with data, analysis, and insights: optimizing cost structure, improving forecast accuracy, and working proactively with procurement and budget owners on contract renewals and negotiations. 

• Evaluate and streamline recurring processes, leveraging AI tools and partnering with Business Intelligence teams to enhance efficiency and maximize time available for insight generation and value creation. 

• Collaborate across all businesses and regions to ensure consistency of FP&A processes with central requirements for your respective areas. 

• Track and evaluate consistency in KPIs and financial reporting across Information Technology, enabling greater visibility and performance monitoring and measurement.   

 

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree: MBA/CPA/CFA a plus. Coursework should include exposure to one or more of: finance/accounting/business/economics/data science/STEM. 

• Minimum 2-4 years of experience in corporate finance or business partnership/analysis roles. 

• Detail-oriented and a thought leader with strong analytical and communication skills. 

• Self-starter that can work independently to solve problems, overcome challenges, and deliver results. 

• Comfortable multi-tasking and managing shifting priorities and deadlines. 

• Proven ability to build relationships with team members, business leaders, and other internal functions. 

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills essential; knowledge of Oracle/Hyperion, Workday, Workday Adaptive Planning, Tableau, and/or PowerBI is preferred. 

• Experience solving business problems with Agentic AI and co-working tools is highly desired.

Total Cash Compensation Range

$95,275.00-139,741.66

Inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive
