About Repair the World Bay Area

Repair the World provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful Jewish service and learning, deepening their connection to Jewish community and peoplehood, building bridges with local nonprofit partners by meeting pressing needs that help meet their missions, and building bridges across lines of difference.

Repair the World Bay Area launched in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as a home for Jewish service learning opportunities across the region: San Francisco, East Bay, and South Bay. Our programs include Service Ambassadors, Service Corps, and Jewish service learning programs, often run in partnership with JCCs, synagogues, Moishe Houses, and other local organizations. These programs meet pressing needs like food insecurity and housing justice, and each one is enriched with Jewish learning, issue-area education, and reflection.

Repair's Service Corps mobilizes young adults to meet community needs through part-time, time-bound Jewish service. Young adults, ages 18-39, serve directly with local partners, learn about social change, local context for their service, and engage in meaningful Jewish learning sessions with their peers. Through pairing service with Jewish learning, Repair provides an entry-point to Jewish life for Jewish young adults who may not be traditionally engaged with the broader Jewish community.

Position Overview

Repair is seeking a Senior Program Associate to support the planning and facilitation of meaningful Jewish service learning programs for young adults and the broader Bay Area community. The Senior Associate will facilitate Repair's Service Corps, a time-bound stipended program where participants engage in volunteering with a service partner and weekly Jewish learning as a group. They will also plan and facilitate meaningful Jewish service learning programs for non-immersive service participants or for the broader Jewish community.

The successful candidate will be an aspiring experiential Jewish educator, community builder, flexible self-starter and a strong facilitator. They excel at building relationships with individuals and can speak passionately about the intersection of service, social change, and Jewish values.

This is a full-time exempt position. The Senior Program Associate will report to the Senior City Director, Bay Area.

Position Responsibilities

Service Corps

• Recruit and oversee operations of 3-4 cohorts of Corps Members per year with the goal of Corps Members becoming integrated with their service partners, connected to Jewish community, and reaching their volunteer goals.
• Identify, build, and sustain existing and new relationships with local Jewish organizations and service partners for Corps Member placements.
• Coordinate and facilitate learning for Corps Members about local social issues, Jewish values and the skills needed to build Jewish service learning programs.

Program Facilitation

• Work with the Senior City Director to implement a robust and strategic programming calendar, including service opportunities that match the needs of service partners and the target audience. of service opportunities that meet partner and participant needs.
• Plan and execute 2-5 Jewish service learning programs per month:
• Connect with service partners and local Jewish organizations
• Prepare and gather supplies
• Facilitate contextual issue area education, Jewish learning, meaningful volunteering, and reflection.

Additional Responsibilities

• Serve as an engagement professional for Bay Area young adults. Attend external events in support of partners and community and be involved in Jewish young adult spaces. Meet one-on-one with people who are curious about Repair. Know our volunteers by name, notice who's showing up and who's drifted, and build the relationships that turn a first-time volunteer into a Corps Member, an Ambassador, or the person who brings three friends next time.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Repair the World's staff across the country, to share skills and resources and maintain program alignment.
• Capture photos and program stories from the field and curate content for the newsletter and social media.
• Input timely and accurate data in Monday.com and Salesforce.
• Complete office and administrative responsibilities, and other needs that arise.

• Program Design Skills: Experience with designing and executing programs that align with our vision, with the flexibility to adapt to community needs while focusing on Jewish learning and social impact.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of Experience: Including a track record of:

• Experience facilitating Jewish learning and/or service experiences for youth, families, or adults.

• Ability to plan and execute community programs from concept to implementation

• Comfort using standard technology tools (Email, G-Suite, etc.) and learning new systems (Salesforce, Monday, Slack, etc.)

• Strong communication, organization and self-management skills

• Flexible Schedule: Availability to facilitate evening and weekend programs based on the needs of partners' and participants' varying schedules.

• Live and work in the Bay Area: Our work requires an in-the-community approach for our impact to be authentic and meaningful. Our city staff live and volunteer in the community in which they work and serve. The person in this role will work most days in the community or in the JCC East Bay.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation at Repair the World is based on the salary band for the role and cost of living for the location. The starting salary for this full-time, exempt role is $70,500 - $72,500 dependent on experience. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation, sick time, personal days and holidays. Employer covers 100% of full-time employee's health premiums (medical/dental/vision) for most plans and 50% for dependents. Additional benefits include retirement matching, professional development funds, employer-paid short and long term disability coverage plus access to the Jewish Learning Collaborative and our Economic Access Fund. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave (pro-rated for employees with Repair less than 6 months).

This position is included in Repair's staff union-represented collective bargaining unit and specific terms and conditions of employment may be subject to a future collective bargaining agreement between Repair the World and the Repair the World Workers' Union.
