    Description

    About the Opportunity

    Seattle Search Group is partnering with an innovative technology company seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant(Contract) to support its finance team during a critical period of growth. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with strong revenue accounting experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

    The position will play a key role in month-end close, revenue recognition, financial reporting, contract review, and process improvement initiatives while partnering closely with finance and operational teams.

    Position Summary

    This individual will be responsible for managing key accounting functions with a strong emphasis on subscription and contract revenue accounting. The role will support financial reporting, maintain the integrity of revenue and billing data, assist with month-end close activities, and collaborate across multiple departments to ensure accurate financial results.

    The position also offers the opportunity to participate in systems enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvements designed to improve the scalability and efficiency of the accounting organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Revenue & Contract Accounting

    • Review customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
    • Maintain accurate contract, billing, and revenue information within financial systems.
    • Ensure customer invoices are issued accurately and timely.
    • Prepare and reconcile revenue, deferred revenue, and related balance sheet accounts.
    • Analyze revenue activity and investigate variances.
    • Support accounting for contract renewals, amendments, pricing changes, and other complex revenue transactions.

    Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

    • Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
    • Perform financial statement variance analysis.
    • Assist with preparation of internal financial reporting packages.
    • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and financial reporting.

    Process Improvement & Systems

    • Participate in ERP and financial systems enhancement projects.
    • Support integration between financial, billing, and operational systems.
    • Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and reporting.
    • Assist with developing accounting policies and strengthening internal controls.

    Financial Analysis & Business Partnership

    • Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
    • Prepare ad hoc financial analyses.
    • Partner with operational teams to ensure financial data accurately reflects contractual agreements and business activity.
    • Support external audit requests and compliance initiatives.

    Data Integrity & Reporting

    • Maintain consistency between contract information, billing records, and financial reporting.
    • Monitor recurring revenue activity and related financial metrics.
    • Reconcile operational data with accounting records.
    • Assist in improving reporting accuracy and financial data quality across multiple systems.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
    • 3-6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606).
    • Experience with recurring revenue, subscription-based, or contract-driven business models preferred.
    • Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Experience with business intelligence or reporting tools is a plus.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
