Senior Software Engineer- Python, Technology Solutions

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Investment Risk and Analytics workstream, you will design, develop, build, and maintain the Python platforms that power NISA’s analytics, quantitative workflows, and risk valuation tools.  You will work closely with business counterparts and our quantitative research groups to understand their needs, formulate requirements, design creative and extensible solutions for data distribution, analysis, and modeling for consumption by internal business groups.

As a senior member of the Technology Solutions department, you will also participate in design and code reviews, collaborate with other teams, and mentor junior teammates.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a field requiring strong analytical and quantitative skills, such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or Information Systems
• 5+ years of professional software development experience including 3+ years of Python
• Extensive experience designing queries and data structures in Postgres, SQL Server, or other relational database platforms
• Experience building and operating business-critical systems in production
• Experience with building systems that scale, including monitoring and optimizing for computational and/or memory performance
• Experience with unit/integration testing frameworks and modern CI/CD practices

Preferred

• Experience collaborating with data scientists, quantitative researchers, and other similar technical stakeholders
• Experience building solutions using public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience designing & implementing data pipelines to support quantitative research, including but not limited to backtesting, feature engineering, factor research, or portfolio analytics is a strong plus
• Familiarity with other high-level languages such as C# or Java
• Familiarity with MATLAB
• Working knowledge of modern application frameworks
• Previous professional experience in financial services sector
