Our client, a nationally recognized consulting, tax, accounting, audit, and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager to join its growing Kansas City metro practice based in Overland Park.

The Opportunity

As a Tax Senior Manager, you'll oversee sophisticated tax planning, consulting, compliance, and advisory engagements while serving as a key leader within the practice.

You'll work directly with privately held businesses, healthcare organizations, financial institutions, investors, real estate operators, executives, and ownership groups while helping clients address complex tax, operational, and growth-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Tax Advisory

• Lead complex tax planning, consulting, and compliance engagements
• Develop proactive tax strategies that support client growth and profitability
• Advise clients on business structuring, entity selection, and tax-efficient planning opportunities
• Provide guidance on federal, state, and multi-state tax matters
• Serve as a strategic advisor to business owners and executive leadership teams

Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain long-term client relationships
• Deliver exceptional service and practical business solutions
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and services
• Coordinate tax, accounting, consulting, and advisory engagements
• Become a trusted year-round resource for clients

Leadership & Team Development

• Manage, mentor, and develop tax professionals across multiple levels
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and career development support
• Review work product and maintain quality standards
• Assist with recruiting, retention, and staff development initiatives
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Practice Growth

• Participate in networking and business development activities
• Assist with proposals, presentations, and client pursuits

Qualifications

Required

• CPA, EA, or comparable professional credential
• 7+ years of tax experience within public accounting, consulting, or corporate tax leadership
• Strong tax planning and advisory experience

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities
